WILLEMSTAD – Public transportation company Autobusbedrijf Curaçao (ABC) announced the resumption of bus route 10B today, which connects Punda, Bonam, and Brievengat. The route had been temporarily suspended due to repeated vandalism incidents targeting ABC buses.
According to ABC, several suspects were recently apprehended in connection with the acts of vandalism. In response, meetings were held last week involving police representatives, social services, community leaders, and youth organizations. These discussions focused on finding sustainable solutions to prevent a recurrence of the destructive behavior.
While service on route 10B has restarted, ABC emphasized that formal consultations with the Ministry of Justice and the police are ongoing. The aim is to establish concrete measures to discourage vandalism and ensure a safe environment for passengers and drivers.
ABC reiterated its commitment to the safety and well-being of both its staff and the traveling public. The company called on the community to work collaboratively to maintain order and protect public infrastructure. "Safety and reliability remain our top priorities in delivering public transport," an ABC spokesperson stated.
