WILLEMSTAD - A significant quantity of fireworks was stolen from an address on Kaminda Hensley 'Ban Ban' Meulens, as reported by the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
The burglary occurred in the early morning hours on the second day of Christmas. The stolen fireworks were stored in a container. According to the police, the thieves managed to make off with a substantial amount of fireworks.
"Besides being a criminal offense due to burglary and theft, it is also dangerous because it is not known for what purpose the stolen fireworks are stored elsewhere. It also happens that thieves who steal fireworks do not take the proper precautions for storage," stated the police.
The police are appealing to owners of fireworks sales points to take precautionary and safety measures to prevent theft from easily occurring at their fireworks storage location(s). Additionally, the police advise against purchasing stolen fireworks, as doing so would be committing a criminal offense.
The KPC notes that theft of fireworks has been occurring regularly in recent years.
