WILLEMSTAD - A heartbreaking event shook the Radulphus College (High School) last Thursday, where a student made a desperate attempt to take their own life. Despite the school administration initially labeling the incident as an accident, it is now coming to light that it was indeed a suicide attempt. This tragic incident has deeply affected the community in Curaçao and raises serious questions about the role of the school leadership and the Roman Catholic school board under which the school operates: bullying by both students and teachers seems to be systematically tolerated and hushed up.

“The RKCS and the Radulphus College call for respect for privacy
Recently, a serious situation has occurred that has had a profound impact on our school community. From the Roman Catholic Central School Board and the Radulphus College, we empathize with our student and her family.
In the current situation, we want to give the family all the space and attention they need to deal with what has happened. We kindly request everyone to respect the personal circumstances and privacy of this family. Out of this respect, we will not provide further information about this incident.
The school management, the care team of the Radulphus College, the school social workers, along with external agencies such as SkuchaMi, Victim Support, SIGE, ARBO, and IKD, have provided immediate support at school to all those who need it. In addition, personal support will be provided, including referrals to external professionals.
From our faith, we ask God, our Father, for the necessary support and strength for everyone. We thank everyone who has supported the team with advice, guidance, and assistance.”
