Bopec Sale Enters Final Phase as Curoil Bonaire Nears Acquisition

KRALENDIJK – The sale of the former Bopec oil terminal is entering its final stage, with Curoil Bonaire expected to complete the purchase by the end of October 2025.

On June 2, Curoil Bonaire signed the Sales and Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of the Bopec facilities. Since then, the company has worked intensively with court-appointed trustee Mr. C.M. van Liere and the Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB) to meet the conditions required for a smooth transfer of the terminal.

All parties describe the process as constructive and cooperative. Given the size and complexity of the transaction, they agreed to take several additional weeks to finalize the details. The aim is to close the deal no later than October 31, 2025.

Curoil Bonaire, the trustee, and the OLB have stressed their joint determination to complete the acquisition responsibly and as swiftly as possible, ensuring the transaction benefits all stakeholders.

The Bopec terminal, once a major storage and transshipment hub for oil products on Bonaire, has been inactive in recent years following financial troubles and bankruptcy proceedings. Its acquisition by Curoil Bonaire is seen as a crucial step toward safeguarding the island’s energy security and revitalizing the strategic facility.
