WILLEMSTAD – On Monday, February 2, 2026, the curators of Curaçao Art, Ms. Josée Thissen-Rojer and Mr. Sinuhe Oomen, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Curaçao, His Excellency Mauritsz de Kort. They were accompanied during the visit by a representative of one of the sponsors, Ms. Lucia Beck.
During the meeting, Ms. Thissen-Rojer presented the Governor with a copy of the publication Despensa i Pordon. The book is a 63-page catalogue featuring information and visual material related to the artworks and artists who contributed to the exhibition of the same name, which was previously held at the Museo di Kòrsou.
The exhibition Despensa i Pordon focuses on Curaçao’s history of slavery, its lasting impact on contemporary society, and the lessons that can be drawn for the future. In this context, part of the exhibition was displayed at the Governor’s Palace during the Governor’s New Year’s reception on January 6, 2026. That presentation explicitly highlighted the importance of this historical and social theme.
The visit underscored the role of art and culture as instruments for reflection, awareness, and dialogue about Curaçao’s shared past and its future.

The presentation was attended by Mr. Sinuhe Oomen, Governor Mauritsz de Kort, Ms. Lucia Beck, and Ms. Josée Thissen-Rojer.
