WILLEMSTAD - Dr. Bob Pinedo retires as chairman of Fundashon Prevenshon (FP). The baton is passed to Dr. Ashley Duits.
Fundashon Prevenshon was founded in 2008 by Pinedo and MCB (Maduro & Curiel’s Bank) director Lionel "Paps" Capriles with the aim of reducing cancer patient deaths and conducting population studies. The emphasis had to be on the prevention or early detection of cancer. Under Pinedo's leadership, large-scale breast cancer screening among the population was initiated.
The spectrum has since been broadened to include the prevention of diseases in a broader sense, such as diabetes. In addition, with FP the foundation has been laid for the Caribbean Prevention Center. Duits will succeed Pinedo as president of the organization. He has asked Pinedo to remain associated with the foundation as an honorary member and advisor.
