WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has applied blood irradiation to Curaçao for the first time. This is possible because the hospital has taken new equipment into use.

Blood irradiation helps the patient's body to accept new blood during a transfusion.

The new device can irradiate two blood bags at the same time and is generally used to treat cancer.
