WILLEMSTAD - What started off as the annual Crab Race organized by Baoase, turned into an astonishing afternoon in their paradise at Marie Pampoen. Every year, Baoase organizes their iconic Crab Race on the 1st of January to celebrate the year opening with Champagne and oliebollen for their beloved guests. Guests are invited to buy their favorite crab for the race, where all money raised is donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao.
This year, the Baoase team sold almost 100 crabs, raising nearly USD 6.000 in this event that took place on their beach. Hereafter to raise additional funds, the Director of Sales & Marketing, Sue-Anne Klabér, surprised the guests by auctioning 2 nights in Beachfront Pool Suites raising an additional USD 5.000. After the winners were crowned and all guests were thanked for their contribution to RMHC and their local community, the General Manager, Thijs van der Valk, made a donation on behalf of the van der Valk family, raising the amount once more.
Moved by the generosity and the values of RMHC, a generous local family staying at Baoase made a beautiful donation which started a chain reaction with donations being made by 5 additional families staying at Baoase, to an amazing amount of USD 50.000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities Curaçao.
