WILLEMSTAD - Gilbert Doran, Member of Parliament for the MFK party, expresses concern over many businesses in Curaçao refusing to accept 100 gulden bills. According to the MP, this makes these notes practically unusable. Businesses are rejecting these bills due to circulating counterfeits, prompting banks to advise temporarily discontinuing their acceptance. Doran questions why this information was not communicated to the public and particularly why banks continue to issue these bills to the population.
The coalition MP wonders why there isn’t a straightforward system similar to verifying U.S. dollars for checking Curaçao’s bank notes. "To alleviate the community's panic, we make a humanitarian appeal to our banks to provide more clarity on this issue, ensuring our people are better informed," Doran emphasized.
