WILLEMSTAD - The bankruptcy of the Curaçao gambling company Dama NV has been overturned by the Joint Court of Justice. Dama, which operates the cryptocurrency casino BitStarz among others, demonstrated that it is financially sound and that players' claims had been settled. This was the court's ruling on Tuesday.
The Court of Curaçao had declared Dama NV bankrupt on June 12, citing that the gambling company was failing to pay players' claims. The judge concluded that Dama had stopped making payments to players. Shortly thereafter, Dama asserted that the company was financially healthy and that the legal issue could be resolved.
The court subsequently ruled that the company was indeed not in a state of insolvency, supported by financial documents and payments to Dama's business creditors. As a result, the bankruptcy has been overturned.
