WILLEMSTAD - The Carifta swimming championships are over. The athletes from the Bahamas finished with the highest number of medals.
Curaçao hosted the 36th edition of the regional swimming event. More than four hundred athletes from 22 countries took part in the championships. The games took place without any major incidents. However, the Citro rescue team had to take a dozen swimmers out of the water at the Carifta Open Water competitions due to fatigue. The more than one hundred participants swam a distance of no less than 5 kilometers. The sea was rough because of the wind.
