Azul’s U.S. Bankruptcy Filing Has No Immediate Impact on Flights to Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – The recent request by Brazilian airline Azul for bankruptcy protection under U.S. law does not currently affect its flight connections to and from Curaçao. Azul currently operates multiple direct flights to Curaçao’s Hato International Airport from Belo Horizonte in Brazil and Fort Lauderdale in the United States.

The bankruptcy filing is a consequence of financial difficulties accumulated after the COVID-19 pandemic but does not mean that any flights will be canceled at this time.

Azul aims to emerge from bankruptcy protection by early next year. Like many Latin American airlines, Azul has faced significant financial challenges in the wake of the pandemic. With this filing, Azul becomes the latest Latin American carrier to seek bankruptcy protection due to the ongoing struggles within the aviation sector in recent years.
