Authorities Shut Down Basila Snack in Juan Domingo for Operating Without Required Permits

WILLEMSTAD — A multidisciplinary team consisting of Economic Inspection, SBAB, the Fire Department, and Customs conducted a coordinated inspection on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at a business operating under the name Basila Snack, located in the Juan Domingo neighborhood.

During the inspection, the Economic Inspection Division determined that the establishment was operating without a valid Horeca (hospitality sector) permit. Additionally, the owner was unable to provide evidence of having applied for such a permit.

Further violations included the absence of a fiscal cash register and failure to properly maintain administrative records for clients, both of which are legal requirements.

The Fire Department identified a hazardous situation involving gas cylinders that were improperly stored inside the establishment, posing serious safety risks.

As a result of these findings, the team ordered the immediate closure of Basila Snack. The business must remain closed until it obtains the necessary Horeca permit and corrects all outstanding violations.

Authorities reminded the public that it is strictly prohibited to operate any Horeca-related business without a valid operating permit. Enforcement efforts will continue to ensure compliance with regulations aimed at protecting both consumers and public safety.
