WILLEMSTAD - There are strong indications that arson was involved in the fire that consumed the buggies belonging to Curaçao Activities at the Sambil shopping center. Last night, just before 10:00 PM, the Mundo Nobo Fire Department was urgently called to the location where the company's buggies were stored.
Upon arrival, all the buggies were engulfed in flames. A fierce fire reduced the vehicles to ashes. Only the safari truck managed to escape the inferno.
An object resembling a Molotov cocktail was found in the shopping center's parking lot, further suggesting arson. Police authorities from the TFO, the Special Unit for Special Cases, and the digital unit were quickly on the scene as there are security cameras that may have recorded activities around the time of the fire.
Authorities have launched an investigation and are currently reviewing the camera footage to identify any suspects. Curaçao Activities, known for its tourist tours, now faces the difficult task of repairing the damage and ensuring the safety of its customers and staff.
Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward.
