WILLEMSTAD – A house fire on Banda Bou during New Year’s night left two people severely injured and two others with minor injuries. The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) confirmed in a press conference Wednesday evening that the fire was deliberately set.
The blaze occurred at 3:00 a.m., resulting in severe burns for two victims, including a minor who was airlifted to Colombia for treatment. Two others suffered from smoke inhalation and lost consciousness but were later stabilized.
Investigations by the tactical and forensic units have confirmed that the fire was caused by arson. Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas shared on Facebook that a Molotov cocktail was deliberately thrown into the house. Evidence supporting this conclusion has been seized.
The KPC is urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward to assist in their investigation.
