WILLEMSTAD - The police arrested a 61-year-old man on Monday afternoon on suspicion of human trafficking, according to a press release from the Curaçao Police Force.
The man, hailing from Venezuela, is the captain of a boat intercepted in September. The boat was carrying individuals attempting to enter Curaçao illegally. The suspect was apprehended within the barracks of the Koraal Specht prison, where he was residing in the section designated for illegal immigrants.
He has been presented before the Prosecutor's Office, which has determined his provisional detention. The police do not rule out the possibility of further arrests related to the same case.
