Aqualectra places LED lighting in Punda and Otrobanda

Local | By Correspondent September 15, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The Aqualectra LED lighting project is being expanded to Punda and Otrobanda. Aqualectra reports this in a press release. All street lamps in these areas will become 'smart'.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Transport, Traffic, and Spatial Planning, the utility company will replace the street lighting in these areas with intelligent LED. It is the first time in thirty years that all 793 lights are replaced. The work will take place from 15 September to 15 October. Aqualectra apologizes for any inconvenience.

According to the utility company with the 25-year anniversary on the World Heritage List, LED lighting must be even more beautiful. The lamps are also more efficient and use less energy.

Earlier this year, LED lighting was placed during the test phase on the road to Westpunt and the Emancipatie Boulevard. The Juliana Bridge was also provided with new intelligent lights in August.
