WILLEMSTAD - Energy provider Aqualectra is experiencing issues with the update of the CrowdStrike system, which is causing problems for numerous companies across various sectors worldwide. Among the affected systems is the pre-paid Pagatinu system. The extent of the impact has not been disclosed, but it has been confirmed that purchasing Pagatinu was temporarily unavailable.
Cybersecurity company Crowdstrike has informed customers via a phone message that they are "aware of reports of crashes on Microsoft's Windows operating systems." Crowdstrike is one of the largest cybersecurity companies in the world and serves major corporations.
The Crowdstrike outage had far-reaching consequences. Due to an issue with Microsoft, presumably caused by Crowdstrike’s security software, flights had to be canceled, supermarkets couldn't open, and even news outlets like SkyNews and ABC had to temporarily halt their reporting.
