WILLEMSTAD - The General Pension Fund Curaçao (APC) finds itself without the requested financing from the Growth Fund for its Waterfort Plaza project. Despite efforts, the funds have not been allocated for the development situated in the Plaza Hotel area of Punda. Minister of Climate and Energy, Rob Jetten (D66), conveyed this information in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives on Thursday.
The Growth Fund primarily targets sustainable energy projects within autonomous countries. Jetten revealed that as early as June 2023, his officials were made aware that no additional funds would be made available. The official confirmation of this decision is encapsulated in the minister's letter to the House of Representatives.
Jetten affirmed, "APC director Evelyn Kruithof-Bor has also been briefed on this development."
The APC has been actively engaged in the multi-year endeavor to develop a hotel within Plaza and its adjacent areas in Punda.
