WILLEMSTAD - In a recent development concerning the restructuring of a aviation company, Antonio Ribeiro, owner of JetAir, has expressed frustration over what he perceives as incomplete negotiations with the curators involved.
Ribeiro outlined nine crucial factors necessary for relaunching an aviation business, including a registered NV-BV with the Chamber of Commerce, a certified aircraft with required documentation, and trained technical and crew personnel specific to the aircraft type. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of retaining and paying existing staff and securing the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) for United Caribbean Airlines (UCA).
"In discussions aimed at restarting the business," Ribeiro stated, "I presented these nine factors as a comprehensive package to the curators." However, after three weeks of negotiations, he lamented that the curators were only willing to approve items 8, 9, and 10 — including the waiver of a 1.1 million guilders debt and the transfer of UCA's shares for a symbolic amount of US$1 — leaving the majority of his proposed conditions unaddressed.
Ribeiro expressed disappointment, asserting, "This approach makes little sense for JetAir. It takes two to tango, and the curators seem to be missing half the dance."
