Anti-Human Trafficking Billboard Unveiled in Ararat Neighborhood

Local | By Correspondent April 1, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – A large informational billboard has been unveiled in the Ararat neighborhood to raise awareness about human trafficking and exploitation. The unveiling is part of a broader campaign by PATH (Prevenshon di Abusu i Trafikashon di Hende – Prevention of Abuse and Human Trafficking), led by the Ministry of Justice, to educate and protect Curaçao’s residents.

PATH collaborates with local and international partners, including police, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Curaçao Juvenile Justice Foundation, and social aid organizations. The initiative aims to help identify victims faster and prosecute perpetrators.

A Visual Wake-Up Call

The billboard in Ararat serves as a striking visual reminder for the community. Many victims do not realize they are being exploited or don’t know where to seek help. The display provides key information about human trafficking and directs people to support services.

Expanding Awareness Efforts

The billboard is one of several measures PATH is implementing. The organization also plans to host public information sessions, train professionals, and launch educational campaigns to equip the community with tools to recognize and prevent abuse and trafficking.

"Victims often suffer in silence. This campaign ensures they know help exists," a PATH representative stated.

The effort underscores Curaçao’s commitment to combating modern-day slavery through education and intervention.
