Anthony Godett sworn in as MP for KEM party

Local | By Correspondent November 22, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - On Thursday afternoon, Anthony Godett was officially sworn in as a Member of Parliament by Governor Lucille George-Wout, representing the political party KEM. Earlier that day, Parliament reviewed and approved Godett’s credentials during a public session. These credentials serve as official documentation proving a candidate's eligibility for the position.

Commitment to a More Effective Parliament

Godett has expressed his commitment to enhancing the efficiency and seriousness of parliamentary proceedings. “Many issues could be handled more efficiently in committee meetings,” he stated.

A Leadership Transition

Godett was the second candidate on KEM's list during the 2021 elections and is stepping into the role following the resignation of party leader Michelangelo ‘Lo’ Martines last week. Martines is currently in custody as part of a criminal investigation into alleged involvement in drug trafficking and money laundering.

The transition marks a significant moment for KEM, as Godett assumes leadership in Parliament during a challenging time for the party.
