Anthony Godett prepares to take on role as KEM parliamentarian

WILLEMSTAD - Anthony Godett has confirmed his readiness to return to Curaçao's parliament as a representative for the KEM party. Godett shared his commitment to diligently preparing for his duties as a parliamentarian.

A seasoned politician, Godett previously served with the FOL party and now takes up a new role with KEM after the resignation of its political leader, Michelangelo ‘Lo’ Martines. Martines stepped down last Friday amid ongoing legal proceedings related to allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering.

Godett has formally notified the Electoral Council of his acceptance of the appointment and is expected to take his oath before the governor soon, after which he will officially assume his parliamentary seat.

In anticipation of his new responsibilities, Godett aims to fully prepare for the task ahead. He awaits government responses to questions raised during the Central Committee's discussions on the budget. Parliament is likely to commence its public deliberations on the 2025 budget by the end of November, which Godett sees as his first significant assignment.

"My focus is on being well-informed and ready to contribute effectively," said Godett, emphasizing the importance of the budget debate as he prepares to take his seat in Curaçao’s parliament under KEM’s banner.
