WILLEMSTAD - On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, the RST (Special Investigation Unit) in collaboration with KPC (Curaçao Police Force) and Customs detained J.J.J., a 45-year-old individual, on the premises of the Schottegat harbor in Curaçao.
The arrest took place under the order of the Public Prosecutor's Office. Shortly after the arrest, a judicial search was conducted at J.J.J.'s residence under the guidance of a police commissioner. It is suspected that J.J.J., in his role as a guard at this harbor, was involved in the smuggling of large quantities of cocaine in a container located within the harbor. J.J.J. has been detained for further investigation.
Last week, in this case, R.J.R., a 50-year-old individual who also worked as a guard at the harbor, was arrested. R.J.R. is still in custody for his involvement. It is not excluded that more arrests will follow in the coming weeks.
