WILLEMSTAD – The Animal Welfare Project of the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) was active this past weekend in the neighborhood of Soto, located in the Banda Bou region. During the project's special “drive-thru” event, a total of 41 dogs were microchipped. Additionally, many residents scheduled appointments to have their pets spayed or neutered.
The project will remain active in the Soto area until June 28, giving more pet owners the opportunity to book appointments to have their dogs chipped.
After the summer holidays, the Animal Welfare Project will continue its outreach in other neighborhoods, including Sta. Maria/Mahuma, Montaña, and SDK. In October, which is dedicated to World Animal Day, the project will feature a special edition to promote animal welfare even further.
The Animal Welfare Project is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of GMN and various non-governmental organizations committed to improving the lives of animals across Curaçao. The program aims to raise awareness, increase pet identification, and reduce the number of stray animals through responsible pet ownership.
