WILLEMSTAD – Passengers on an American Airlines flight to Miami experienced a scare last Friday when the aircraft aborted its takeoff at Curaçao International Airport.
The incident occurred at around 2:15 p.m., shortly after the plane began accelerating on the runway. According to reports, one of the aircraft’s engines failed, forcing the crew to halt the departure.
The plane safely returned to the gate, where technicians carried out an inspection. Initial assessments suggest that a replacement engine will likely be required before the aircraft can resume service.
No injuries were reported, and passengers were taken back to the terminal while the airline worked on alternative travel arrangements.
