Amendment to Netherlands-Curaçao tax arrangement now in effect

THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - The National Ordinance of June 26, 2024, which modifies the Netherlands-Curaçao Tax Arrangement, officially came into effect this month. This update aligns with the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project outcomes.

The amendment alters the existing tax framework that has been in place since December 1, 2015. This adjustment reflects recent international developments in anti-abuse measures and incorporates updates from both Dutch and Curaçaoan tax laws.

The revised arrangement aims to strengthen tax regulations and enhance compliance with global standards, addressing concerns related to tax avoidance and ensuring that the tax practices of both countries are in harmony with international norms.
