Alwin Keli Steps Down Immediately as Interim Director of Ambulance Service FKAK

WILLEMSTAD – Alwin Keli has stepped down with immediate effect as interim director of the Ambulance Service FKAK. The Supervisory Board decided yesterday to terminate his contract immediately rather than on October 1 as originally planned. A temporary director has already been appointed to serve until a permanent replacement is found.

Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas explained that the decision was accelerated after ambulance staff walked off the job in protest earlier this week. The newly appointed interim director will work closely with Health Minister Javier Silvania to oversee the process of appointing a new permanent director.

In addition, efforts are being made to resolve a longstanding issue for ambulance workers, who have been waiting for three years to obtain civil servant status.

CBV union president Annaliza Suares-Mathilda welcomed the swift decision, calling the workers’ action justified and praising the government for responding quickly.
