WILLEMSTAD – The waste management company Selikor has received almost five million guilders from the Curaçao government. This is according to Finance Minister Javier Silvania in a post on his social media.
According to Silvania, the sector director would have confirmed this to him. Selikor employees took to the streets on Wednesday and temporarily stopped work. It was rumored that the second installment would not be paid by the government. Silvania previously expressed surprise at the demonstration, as he received a positive message from Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga last week.
The payment of 4,879,500 guilders to Selikor has now been paid, according to Silvania.
