WILLEMSTAD - John Cijntje, director of the ABC Bus Company, has announced that the company is committed to equipping all its buses with air conditioning as soon as possible. According to Cijntje, the goal is to have all buses fitted with air conditioning by early 2025. This decision follows numerous complaints about the extreme heat experienced in the buses by both drivers and passengers.
The fleet consists of twenty-three buses, and the upgrade will involve significant costs, Cijntje noted. Technically, eleven of these buses can be retrofitted with air conditioning, representing an investment of approximately one hundred thousand guilders.
Additionally, there will be extra fuel costs associated with the new air conditioning systems, potentially increasing fuel expenses by up to thirty percent compared to last year. A calculation of these costs amounts to over four hundred thousand guilders. Cijntje has confirmed that a request has already been submitted to the government to cover these substantial expenses.
