"Airspace Bubble" is said to provide opportunities for ABC islands economy

WILLEMSTAD - In thinking about the possibilities to restart air traffic in a safe way, international brainstorming is taking place about creating so-called "airspace bubbles".

The "airspace bubble" refers to open airspace between two countries, which hasl the Covid outbreak (more or less) under control. Starting up flights within such a 'bubble' entails less risk than fully opening up the airspace to international travelers.

Australia and New Zealand are currently working on establishing such joint airspace.

The idea of the airspace bubble also offers opportunities for the ABC islands. Without immediately risking the dangers associated with the full opening of the airspace, travel between Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao could entail a modest restart of tourism and other economic activity.
