WILLEMSTAD - Minister Cooper has taken the initiative to address various requests for a change in the destination of the Island Development Plan (EOP). Since 2023, a professional team, with the assistance of Dutch professionals, has been working on five project requests for a change in the destination of 'Open Land'.

Within this framework, the team, along with developers, has already traversed an intensive path, including workshops, studies, and analyses of the area. Minister Cooper presented, at the moment of signing the agreement, the plan to develop Koraal Tabak: "My Ministry does not undertake this alone but collaborates with advisors from the Ministries of Nature and Environment and Economic Development."
With the signing of this agreement, the Ministry of Traffic, Transportation, and Urban Planning, along with the Ministries of Nature and Environment, and Economic Development, external professionals, and developer advisors, will embark on the legal process to change the destination of the EOP. The agreement specifically addresses the Koraal Tabak area, which belongs to the Bakhuis family.
With the signing of this agreement, the Ministry aims to pave the way for the construction of houses and stimulate sustainable tourism development, should the legal process be successful.
