WILLEMSTAD - The agreements between the government and the Electoral Council (ER) for organizing the parliamentary elections on March 21 have not yet been finalized. The ER announced this in response to inquiries from the political party Kòrsou Esun Mihó (KEM).
On June 30, KEM requested more clarity on these agreements, particularly in light of the upcoming elections. On August 9, the ER responded, stating that the agreements are still in draft form and cannot yet be made public.
Additionally, KEM criticized the ER's approach to the financial regulations for political parties. Many parties have not submitted their annual reports and financial data on time, as was the case in the 2021 elections. "These violations have been reported to the Attorney General, but the ER itself cannot impose penalties," stated the ER.
