WILLEMSTAD - The new school year began just a week ago, and already incidents of violence are escalating. Minister of Justice Hato has taken immediate action. Together with the police, the Public Prosecution Service, and the Youth Care implementation organization, an action plan has been developed. The action plan includes stringent measures to ensure safety both on public streets and within schools. Additionally, young people are being taught how to handle aggression in school. The Public Prosecution Service and the Ministry of Justice have jointly established a protocol to address violence in schools. Soon, the Minister of Education will also endorse the protocol.
Minister Hato urges parents to talk to their children about bullying and physical violence in school. Victims are advised to report incidents to the police.
