ABC Completes Registration Campaign for Senior SmartPass With Over 1,000 Sign-Ups

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao bus company Autobusbedrijf Curaçao (ABC) has successfully completed its registration campaign for residents aged 65 and older. In total, 1,006 people signed up for the special SmartPass, which allows seniors to travel for just 1 guilder per ride, ABC announced on its social media channels.

According to ABC, the campaign demonstrated strong engagement from the island’s senior community. Neighborhoods such as Santa Maria (100 registrations), Montaña (86 registrations), and Brievengat (74 registrations) recorded the highest number of participants. Smaller districts, including Gibraltar (14 registrations) and Ser’i Papaya (14 registrations), also showed support for the initiative.

The SmartPass program aims to improve mobility for seniors while reducing their public transportation costs. Registered participants can load their pass with a minimum of 5 guilders and immediately benefit from the discounted fare.

ABC said it is pleased with the response and views the initiative as an important step toward making public transport more accessible for Curaçao’s older residents.
