WILLEMSTAD – ABC Bus Company has taken delivery of five new buses, marking a significant step forward in its efforts to enhance public transportation services on the island. Among the new fleet are four standard-sized buses and one smaller bus specifically designed to cater to the needs of elderly passengers and individuals with mobility challenges.
The acquisition of these buses was made possible through an additional budget of 2 million guilders allocated by the government. The purchasing process began in 2024, and the first batch of buses has now arrived. Later this year, the company expects to receive six more buses, with delivery anticipated by the end of 2024.
In a statement, ABC Bus Company emphasized its commitment to investing in public transportation to better serve the Curaçao community. "We are dedicated to improving our services and ensuring that public transportation is accessible and convenient for all residents, including those with special needs," a company spokesperson said.
The introduction of the smaller bus is particularly noteworthy, as it addresses a growing demand for inclusive transportation options. The vehicle is equipped with features such as low-floor entry, wheelchair ramps, and priority seating to accommodate passengers with limited mobility.
This expansion is part of a broader initiative by ABC Bus Company to modernize its fleet and improve the overall quality of public transit on the island. With the arrival of the additional six buses later this year, the company aims to further enhance service frequency and reliability, ensuring that more residents can benefit from efficient and accessible transportation.
