WILLEMSTAD - In a generous act of historical significance, Mr. Wim Grit has donated three mahogany side tables to Museum Savonet, managed by Carmabi. These elegantly crafted pieces of furniture have their origins in Landhuis Savonet and will once again become part of the museum's rich history.

The story begins in 1965 when the last resident of Landhuis Savonet, a member of the Debrot family, passed away. With the household items up for sale, Mr. Grit, along with his mother, decided to attend the auction. His father, a naval dentist, was stationed in Curaçao for three years at the time, and the family would soon return to Utrecht, Netherlands.
Mr. Grit recalls the purchase of the three mahogany tables just before their departure in December 1965. From January 1966, these tables adorned the family home in Utrecht-Noord. After a move in the early '80s, the tables found a new home in Julianadorp, in the municipality of Den Helder, where they have served for decades.
Now, after almost 58 years, Mr. Grit has decided to bring back these cherished heirlooms to their place of origin. He gladly hands over the tables to Museum Savonet, hoping that they will continue to be part of the history of the estate for many years to come.
Museum Savonet is deeply grateful for this valuable donation and assures Mr. Grit that the tables will be preserved with the utmost care. Laden with historical significance, these tables will hold a prominent place within the museum collection, contributing to the preservation of Curaçao's cultural heritage.
