A Farewell to Carnaval’s Youngest Parade Ends Calmly in Willemstad

Local, Entertainment, | By Correspondent February 17, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The farewell parade of this year’s Kindercarnaval in Curaçao concluded in a calm and orderly manner on Tuesday, with young participants celebrating the end of the carnival season in high spirits. The event was marked by lively music, energetic dancing and vibrant costumes as children enjoyed one final festive procession through the streets.

This year’s children’s parade, traditionally held near the conclusion of the carnival festivities, brought a colorful and joyous atmosphere to the island as participants and spectators alike took part in one of the season’s final celebrations. The mood was both spirited and peaceful, with no major incidents reported during the procession.

Adult carnival groups are set to bid their own farewell later Tuesday evening during the Farewell Parade, which this year begins earlier in the afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The timing adjustment is designed to allow all groups to finish before midnight and to ensure that Rei Momo, the symbolic king of carnival, can be ceremonially burned as part of the traditional closing rites.

With the completion of the adult farewell parade, the carnival season on Curaçao will officially come to an end, bringing to a close weeks of vibrant music, dance, cultural expression and community celebration.
