WILLEMSTAD - In a recent operation, the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) successfully intercepted a Yola-type boat carrying 34 undocumented individuals on the evening of December 27. The MOC radar detected a potential vessel between Klein Curaçao and Curaçao, prompting the deployment of the DASH aircraft for identification.
Following the identification, a Metal Shark was swiftly dispatched to intercept the Yola-type boat. Upon interception, authorities discovered that the vessel was carrying 24 men, 9 women, and a 2-year-old child, all of Venezuelan nationality.
The Metal Shark, a maritime enforcement vessel, safely transported all 34 occupants back to Curaçao. Upon arrival, the individuals were promptly handed over to the authorities of the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
