Local | By Correspondent December 23, 2024

WILLEMSTADThe Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) has issued 23 permits this year for fireworks sales stands, a number that matches the permits granted in 2023. The permit holders have met all the required conditions and can begin their sales activities after mandatory inspections.

The sales locations are spread across thirteen areas on Bandariba, including Jongbloed, Sta. Rosa, and Semikok, as well as ten locations on Bandabou, such as Suffisant, Rooseveltweg, and Grote Berg.

Strict Inspections

The Multidisciplinary Team, which includes the Economic Inspection, the fire department, and other regulatory agencies, will conduct inspections on December 24 and 26 to ensure that all permit holders fully comply with the conditions. The inspections will focus on safety, public order, proper price labeling, opening hours, and the minimum age of employees, which must be at least sixteen years old.

The sales period will run from December 27 to 31, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. MEO is encouraging consumers to purchase their fireworks early to avoid last-minute crowds.
