WILLEMSTAD - The 2025 hurricane season is forecasted to be busier than normal, according to the first hurricane outlook for the Atlantic season, released by Colorado State University. The Curaçao Meteorological Service (Meteo) reported this update.

Predictions suggest that 17 named systems, including 9 hurricanes and 4 major hurricanes, are expected this year. These numbers are above the historical average for the period between 1991 and 2020, which saw an average of 14 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.

The forecast from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will be published at the end of May and will be incorporated into the outlook. Additionally, the Colorado State University forecast will be updated several times in the coming months.
