WILLEMSTAD - 2019 enters the books with 18 murders. A little more than half of that has been solved. That is 20 percent more than the year before.

In all these cases, except for 2, the victims lost their lives. 12 of the 18 murders were committed with a firearm. Four with a knife, one with physical violence and a victim with suffocation.

Six cases involved premeditated murder.
