WILLEMSTAD - On Monday, November 20, the largest volunteer action in Curaçao was launched for the eleventh consecutive year. On March 15 and 16, 2024, the entire island will once again be captivated by CURA DOET. In 2014, CURA DOET was organized for the first time on Curaçao, and it was an immediate overwhelming success. Since then, social and community organizations (including community centers, schools, sports clubs, after-school programs, etc.) have submitted tasks each year and received a helping hand from hundreds of volunteers! For the eleventh edition, Curaçao Cares, the driving force behind CURA DOET, aims to raise awareness among young people about volunteer work with their latest initiative: CURA DOET Youth Ambassadors. The organization will also focus on encouraging businesses to adopt a social organization. Last but not least, the spotlight will shine on social organizations and "doing good" for each other.

Heading Towards CURA DOET Edition #11
During the 11th edition, the organization focuses on youth and the importance of volunteer work from a young age. This year, Curaçao Cares has partnered with the Happy Villa Enrichment Center to bring the "CURA DOET Youth Ambassadors" campaign to life. The campaign is led by young people from the Happy Villa Enrichment Center who are actively involved in volunteer work. By sharing their personal experiences with volunteer work, the CURA DOET ambassadors aim to raise awareness of the importance of volunteerism, especially the joy it brings.
Every year, social and community organizations can count on the support of existing and new volunteers, including students, businesses with their employees, members of service clubs, and many groups of family members and families. It has also been observed that after CURA DOET, some volunteers remain actively involved with the organizations they registered with. In addition to promoting social involvement and cohesion, much more is achieved on these two days with much less financial investment and with the help of many material donations from individuals. Furthermore, the voluntary contribution (in the form of labor hours) of thousands of volunteers over the past 10 years has been of enormous economic value. Even the financial contribution to participating social and community organizations provides an annual economic boost to the Curaçao community. For many of us, CURA DOET has become indispensable.
Registering Tasks and Activities
Social organizations and charities can now register their tasks on the website www.curadoet.com or by contacting Curaçao Cares at curadoet@curacaocares.org. Tasks can be registered until December 28, 2023. If a foundation or association lacks the financial means to carry out a task, the Oranje Fonds provides a contribution of up to a maximum of NAF 1,100, for example, for materials or transportation. This contribution can be requested through the website. Act quickly as availability is limited.
Once all tasks from social organizations are registered, everyone can choose a fun task and come help during the CURA DOET weekend on March 15 and 16, 2024, starting from January 1, 2024. Individuals, businesses, and schools, as well as families, friend groups, and sports teams, can sign up for a rewarding task and get hands-on. Businesses can support this nationwide initiative by providing a service or product for free or at a discount. For schools, CURA DOET is an ideal opportunity to introduce young people to volunteer work. The entire Curaçao community is participating! Will you join too?
