NEW YORK, WILLEMSTAD - Seventeen proud runners represented Curaçao at this year’s New York City Marathon, held last Sunday in the United States. The world-famous race brought together 60,000 participants from over 150 countries, all running the 42.195 kilometers through the five boroughs of New York City. Every member of Team Curaçao successfully crossed the finish line—many achieving personal best times.

After the marathon, Team Curaçao was invited to a special gathering at the Dutch Consulate in New York, where they met Dutch Olympic champion Sifan Hassan, who also competed in the marathon.
The team’s participation was made possible through the support of main sponsor Allyant and partners including MMO, Sixt, Inter-Assure Insurances, Plaza 66, Onderlinge Hulp, NAPA Auto Parts, Orco Bank, and Florès Otrobanda. Thanks to their sponsors, the runners wore distinctive team uniforms and warm presentation jackets, essential after months of training in Curaçao’s tropical climate and racing in New York’s cool autumn weather.
The proud Curaçao delegation included Jolinda Bokhorst, Linda Breukers, Gerjan Buter, Hidde Buter, Nathalie Cannegieter, Casper Camps, Eva Fierst, Mischa van Gelderen, Mark Harmsen, Koen Jansen, Saskia van der Mars, Martijn Nolles, Ingrid van Oijen, Jeroen Starreveld, Mart van Straalen, Alba van Tartwijk, and Jocco van de Weghe.
Their remarkable achievement not only showcased endurance and determination but also placed Curaçao’s spirit of perseverance on one of the world’s most celebrated marathon stages.
