WILLEMSTAD – Specialists and researchers from the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) presented their latest scientific research during the 5th Dutch Caribbean Research Week, highlighting studies focused on some of the most pressing healthcare challenges facing Curaçao and the wider Dutch Caribbean.
The annual event, held at the University of Curaçao (UoC) with support from the Dutch Research Council (NWO), brought together healthcare professionals and researchers from across the Dutch Caribbean to exchange knowledge and collaborate on improving healthcare throughout the region.
According to CMC, its team showcased research in three critical areas with direct relevance to the health of residents in Curaçao and neighboring islands: emergency neurological care, sickle cell disease, and maternal health.
The hospital said these studies address some of the region's most significant health challenges and are aimed at improving patient care, treatment outcomes and healthcare delivery.
Dutch Caribbean Research Week serves as a platform for medical professionals, academics and researchers to present new findings, share best practices and strengthen regional cooperation in medical research.
CMC emphasized that participation in the conference reflects its commitment to advancing evidence-based medicine and contributing to scientific knowledge that can lead to better healthcare for the people of Curaçao and the wider Caribbean.
By participating in the annual research conference, the hospital continues to strengthen collaboration with regional and international partners while promoting innovation and scientific research as key components of improving healthcare services.
