Black Festival to Celebrate Afro-Caribbean Culture at Landhuis Kenepa

WILLEMSTAD – On Sunday, June 22, the Fundashon Museo Tula will host the Black Festival at Landhuis Kenepa, celebrating Afro-Caribbean culture, resistance, and intergenerational knowledge. The event also marks the conclusion of the Living History project, carried out by the organization Untold in collaboration with the foundation.

Since 2023, Untold has led four workshop sessions for young people in Curaçao, focusing on storytelling, traditional percussion, Creole cuisine, and the crafting of African masks. The outcomes of these creative workshops will be presented during the festival through an exhibition and live cultural performances.

Festival attendees can participate in various workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings, all centered on the theme of resistance. The museum will also launch an educational archive aimed at helping schools and teachers approach history in a conscious and relevant way. Additional youth-focused educational initiatives, such as Peer Education and Agente di Lus, will also be highlighted.

The festival is open to teachers, youth workers, culture enthusiasts, and the general public, offering a day of reflection, celebration, and cultural empowerment.
