news Taking into account the gradual recovery that tourism has been showing, and in order to know how the trends in the sector are changing, ANATO carried out the 5th Reactivation Survey of its Travel Agencies, with which its level of operation, the commercialization of its products and services, in addition to employment.
One of the results of the study is that, although in 2021, the Associated Travel Agencies reported a reactivation in their sales of 62%, by 2022 they expect it to reach 85%, compared to 2019.
“The pandemic has brought new challenges for businessmen, who have been able to face them by strengthening their tools of professionalism and advice, in order to become increasingly necessary for tourists when seeking guidance from them in preparing their trips,” he explained. Looking at the segments that sold the most in 2021, the respondents revealed that the corporate sector reached a 55% share, while the vacation sector obtained 45%; In addition, national destinations had a 58% share, and 42% international ones, suggesting a better recovery for the international market for this year.
It should be noted that employment was one of the most affected. However, in 2021, the number of employees in Associated Travel Agencies was reduced by 38%, with 93% working full time, 2% part time and 5% suspended, which indicates that despite that the PAEF was a tool of great help, there is still a long way to go to recover the lost positions.
