Willemstad - On September 28, CHATA organized the 4th edition of the Flavors of Curaçao powered by Polar and Bacardi. Over 40 restaurants catered to the 4.000 guests of this sold out event.
The Flavors of Curaçao is an annual food festival that CHATA organizes to raise funds for the association. For the first time in its 4-year existence CHATA organized the Flavors of Curaçao at the Renaissance Curaçao Resort and Casino. Guests were pleasantly surprised by the transformation of the venue into an outdoor soiree. Participating restaurants went all out with a great variety of surprising dishes. From tempura ayaka’s to risoto’s and BBQ iguana!
Furthermore, CHATA also hosted Chef Justin Niessen from Just Rotterdam whom hosted a chef demo where guests were able to enjoy an exclusive dish prepared on the spot. Also, CHATA hosted the finale of the Curaçao Culinary Team Bartender Competition. 6 bartenders vied for the position of Bartender of the Year 2021 which was ultimately awarded to Raylison Frans from Koraal Rooftop Terrace. Judges of the bartending competition included Rakesh Madoo head judge of the Taste of the Caribbean competitions.
A new addition to this year’s event was the digital payment system. Flavors is one of the first events who introduced this system on the island. As with many new innovations some challenges may arise upon introduction. CHATA is aware that some guests experienced difficulties while using the system and CHATA is very grateful for the patience of the visitors while we were resolving the issues that arose during the event. Similar to previous years CHATA will do its utmost to improve on the challenges experienced during this year’s edition.
