WILLEMSTAD - On Saturday evening, 12 October, the first guests were welcomed at the new Dive City Curaçao in Pietermaai. During a spectacular performance by race artist Junior Tecla and the talented musicians of VibeNation, city beach City Beach 88 was officially renamed Dive City Curaçao. During the opening, Tecla launched his new single 'Ta Ken Bo Ta?' and also made the name change known to the public.
The reason for the name change is the relocation of Scuba Lodge Dive Center Pietermaai to the city beach. The diving school stood for more than a decade next to the hotel reception of boutique hotel Scuba Lodge, but has recently been moved to the city beach at Pietermaai 86-88. From the new location daily diving and snorkeling trips are organized, materials are rented out and diving courses are given.
Daan Drechsel, Manager of Scuba Lodge Dive Center Pietermaai: "We are very satisfied with our new location. Our diving school has always been within walking distance of the beach but now we are literally at the seaside. The first reactions from guests are particularly positive. In particular the contrast between the natural elements of sun, wind and beach on the one hand and the impressive historic district on the other is a special experience, "says Drechsel.
"Scuba Lodge Dive Center is doing well and our move is a next step to grow. The name change of the city beach has been preceded by a long preparation. The adaptation of our promotional materials has also been started, so that the name City Beach 88 "The social media pages of City Beach 88 will also be adjusted as a result of the name change. The social media and email of Scuba Lodge Dive Center will remain unchanged," said Drechsel.
Dive City Curaçao is also accessible to non-divers. The city beach is open daily for lunch and dinner and serves pizzas from an authentic Italian stone oven. Guests can relax on their beach bed and order food and drinks from there. There are no coast breakers in front of the beach but you can swim at your own risk. Dive City has a daily happy hour between 17:00 and 18:00. Every Thursday there is a two-hour happy hour between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
