WILLEMSTAD - With the cutting of the ceremonial ribbon, supported by loud cheers from the team, Bas Fillipini and Daan Drechsel have officially opened the new location of Dive Center Pietermaai at Pietermaai 80.
Dive Center Pietermaai, a 5 Star PADI IDC Resort, is a unique dive center and loved by both local residents as by tourists. They are the only dive center on the island cruising around in a big red school bus, the only dive center in Pietermaai, and now located in a UNESCO World Heritage monumental building.
Daan Drechsel, manager of Dive Center Pietermaai: “This is a great day! I’m super proud of our team, their support and patience as we were planning for something bigger and better. It’s amazing to see where we are today and what we have accomplished together. Coming from an almost zero baseline during Covid, we now have a solid and enthusiastic team, going above and beyond to give our guests the time of their life.”
Dive Center Pietermaai has been awarded for more than 10 years of outstanding services by PADI. Joining the opening event, PADI Regional Manager Kristina Leadbeater: “I’m looking forward to celebrating the opening of Dive Center Pietermaai’s new location. It provides the same welcome and family feel with an updated modern atmosphere for all guests, including dedicated training space for PADI professionals.”
As the economy of Curaçao continues to develop and bloom, especially in the heart of Willemstad with more stay-over locations to open, this offers new prospects for all entrepreneurs in the area. For the dive center, it is important to continue to develop and embrace change.
The new location offers a spacious service desk including a retail shop, tank storage and cleaning facilities, an upstairs training room, a sea-view lounge seating area, showers and restrooms. ‘We offer everything that varies from professional snorkel- and diving gear to the more fun and wanna-have goodies and Curaçao souvenirs.
